Hi Rob, Attached are the pages from our lab notebook for the crucial tests of the Sidecar ASIC and H2RG bare mux at LN2 temperatures. The first few pages describe our noise analysis of the data using the StarServer software. It was done at a gain code of 7 (voltage gain of x4, highest possible with StarServer, ~12.7 uV or 3.2 e- per ADU). We analyze the noise by eyeballing the peak-to-peak noise in one column (i.e. vertically) of a CDS frame, and ignoring the (slight) low frequency wander, which we presume can be cured by reference pixels. The RMS noise should be about one fifth of the p-p noise (depends a bit on the eyeball, but Judy and I get very similar estimates). The next pages describe our implementation of the IDL software from Teledyne, which uses the HxRG_main?.mcd code we got from Michael. After determining the typical output voltage of the array (1.6 V) and the voltage on the InPCommon line (the reference for the output, about 1.8 V). We set the two voltages a bit lower (1.5 and 1.75 V) so nothing would be near zero (it's actually a double differential S/H amplifier, I believe) and got the output in a single frame to be near 32,000 ADU (the mid-range of the A/D converter). The data for this run is at http://astro.pas.rochester.edu/~forrest/SidecarASIC/ The directory name gives the date and time, i.e. /20090804120533/ 12:05:33 PM on 4 Aug. 2009 The CDS frame is in the 'Result' directory, the two files are the individual reads (we always checked these first to verify the, correct, 'picture frame' and the ADU level in the 'blemish', which was to be near 32,000 ADU. We found the software gave an incorrect gain in the header for the first (2) exposures (i.e. CDS) after a change in gain. After we realized this, we deleted that data. The gain was correct for the next CDS. The gain can be checked by measuring the depth of the 'blemish' w.r.t. it's nearby surroundings. We used this method to verify the Teledyne statements on gain (recorded in lab notebook).
