Mars rock
- tubules
- could be fossils, shape similar to Earth organisms
- organic molecules
- polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH’s)
- Problems (most no longer believe there is any evidence for life in this rock):
- magnetite can form naturally, from chemistry, without requiring life
- The tubule-like organisms known on Earth are 100 times bigger than the Mars tubules
- PAH’s don’t require life, and could just be contamination
- plenty of PAH’s seen in interstellar space
- even at the Antarctic, there are traces of Earth’s organic life
