Lunar or Mercurian ice?
Earlier Clementine mission used radar
- some evidence of ice signature (polarization) near N and S poles
- Evidence weak, disputed by some
Radar studies of Mercury from the Earth
- strong polarization signature of H2O ice at N and S poles
- as for the Moon, these regions can be very cold
- bottoms of craters in eternal shadow
- H2O ice deposited by comets can freeze
- Good place to send a probe someday
- maybe even a colony on Mercury
