I. Introduction
The purpose of writing this manual is to document how to set up
and install the dsp observing software and hardware before the people
who know what they are doing get too far displaced in time from the
ones who originally did the installation (i.e. I am writing it down
before I forget). The topics that this manual concerns itself with
are:
- The ESIX device driver for interfacing with the DSP hardware,
- Mitch Bradley's CFORTH,
- all DSP software written in C, Perl and Forth by JS, NC, WJF and myself,
- the graphical interface, xshowall, written by yours truly,
- the setup of the PC observing computer, including various magic
numbers and board configurations,
So, without further delay, let us jump right in and see what I
remember! For your information, ``DSP'' usually refers to all aspects
of the observing system, not just ``Digital Signal Processing'' (at
least in this lab it does).
