Connecting from Home ---------- ---- ---- There are three ways to connect to our computers from you own home computer: 1.) The first and the best way is to get an SSH package from Tom Guptill in B&L rm. 104. This package makes it possible to make secure connections to remote computers. You can use this to then connect directly to any machine on which you have an account in our cluster. 2.) The next way is possible if you are using an internet service like America Online, or if you have purchased an IP address for your home computer. If you can give me the IP address your computer consistently uses, I will set it up so that you can use telnet, rlogin, rsh or whatever to connect to astro (wayback), and from wayback you can connect to any computer you like in our cluster. 3.) The final way is only useful if you just want a command line. The modem pool. The modems for the building are only 14.4kbaud so they aren't fast enough for much more than a command line. The number is: 256-7000
